Can you system link two xbox 360 with two wireless routers?

Question by yeahthatstheguy: Can you system link two xbox 360 with two wireless routers?
Is it at all possible to have one xbox 360 connected via ethernet cord to wireless router (1) and have the second xbox 360 connected to a completely seperate wireless router (2) via ethernet cord, and still system link? Can you use the two wireless routers to connect to eachother? If so, how? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Phil S.
sorry no…not with two routers…but some gaming adapters have the option to connect to each other via router or you could plug both xboxs into the routers via cords…but routers themselves are not made to communicate with each other…they are just made to communicate on their own control panel…

Q&A: If I have 2 wireless routers do they both have to have a modem?

Question by Daindude: If I have 2 wireless routers do they both have to have a modem?
Yeah I have 2 wireless G routers. One is plugged in to a modem. The reason why I have another because some things I can’t plug in to the router cause it’s in a different room. The other modem is a Wireless access point.

Best answer:

Answer by roadster9879
no.

If they are set up correctly, the far router should be able to transfer data to the one on the modem. you may have to contact your router manufacturer help desk to have them help you with the proper settings. If you have a Belkin or a Linksys router, they will give you help at their web site, or over the phone, 24/7.

You are definately on the right track. It should work.

Do most wireless routers have wired connections as well?

Question by Kyle M: Do most wireless routers have wired connections as well?
I’m going to be buying a laptop next month for my birthday, and I want to buy a wireless router for my apartment. I have my desktop, however, which just connects via standard ethernet card. Would most wireless routers have a direct, wired ethernet connection as well, or will I need some additional hardware?

Best answer:

Answer by bostonianinmo
Virtually all wireless routers have one or more Ethernet ports on the LAN side to connect a wired machine to. In fact, most have an integrated 4 port switch so you can connect up to 4 wired devices and if you need more than that, one of the wired devices can be another switch so you can connect many more devices to a single router. The only additional hardware you’ll need is a patch cord to connect the desktop machine to the router.

What are the two most compatible wireless routers for Mac computers?

Question by henry m: What are the two most compatible wireless routers for Mac computers?
Can any body tell me What are the two most compatible wireless routers for Mac computers?
Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Cmachine
Macs use WiFi just like PCs, so any wireless router should work. That being said, Apple actually makes wireless routers which work very well with Macs. They are called the AirPort Extreme/Express base stations, and they are really easy to set up. The people in the apple store can even help you configure it.

Q&A: Wifi Extender or N-Router?

Question by Xcalith: Wifi Extender or N-Router?
I’m having a dilemma if I should buy a G wifi extender or buy a new N router. Basically, the two devices have almost the same price but the N router will enable me to have a more updated network with faster speeds.

The dead spot in our house is the second floor. The router’s located and fixed at the first floor. The wifi signal does reach the second floor but it’s very weak because of the distance and the walls the signal may travel through. If we were to put the extender, it would be located in the middle of the strong and weak signals. On the other hand, if we would buy a new router, it would be situated right were the router currently is.

So which might be a better buy? I’m not 100% sure that an N router would reach it since I’ve never used it before but the signal does travel to the second floor, it’s just weak which means it might work.

This is the extender that I’ve been taking about:

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1130267578138&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=7813839789B51

Best answer:

Answer by Jeremy M
I’d suggest going with the wireless extender – the router would simply replace the wireless router you have and not make the signal any stronger, it would just give it a faster connection.

You barely turn around and new wireless routers pop up. Which is the best?

Question by Anteater400: You barely turn around and new wireless routers pop up. Which is the best?
My computer has a wireless-G router, but I want to buy one for my brother and his family to use on their computer. How do I select the right one? Are routers used on Macs/Apples and PCs? Are there different models for the PC and the Macs/Apples? Or, is the “letter” designation just an indication for the most recent model? What are the benefits of having a wireless router?

Best answer:

Answer by mark_hensley@sbcglobal.net
If what you have works for you, then experience tells you it is the right decision. Keep the receipt, if your brother wants to purchase a different router for his specific needs then he can return it and still love you and the gift. lol. The letter designations refer to different bands. However routers do there job, they are the least finicky of the electronic bunch.

Amazon can explain it better than I can. You can also see Cisco and other routers that do a fine job.

Q&A: How do wireless routers work with regard to my PS3?

Question by nitrous: How do wireless routers work with regard to my PS3?
I have an 80GB PS3 and want to be able to go online. Can I use a wireless router to do this? And if so, do I have to have a wireless connection or will the wireless router pick up my DSL connection?

Best answer:

Answer by Arminator
If your Wireless Router has a built in DSL Modem, then you will just need the Wireless LAN Router.

Connect it to your DSL Line, and use your PC to configure the router (i.e. set a passkey for your WLAN security).

Then let the PS3 scan for WLAN devices, and let the PS3 find your new router.

Enter the Passkey from above, and your PS3 is online.

When you are about to buy a new WLAN router, make sure the router supports UPnP (don’t confuse UPnP with Plug’n'Play from USB devices or the likes).

Also will I still get the longer range if I only use one antenna wire?

Question by Homer S: My microwave is impacting my Wifi Network. Is this normal? What can I do?
I have 2 Sharp Microwaves. Both impact the wifi network. I have moved the Wifi extender which did not help. Is there a safety issue here?

Best answer:

Answer by DaProfessor
If you don’t have the room to move the router far enough away. Just don’t use the microwave and surf at the same time. You could try changing the channel the wifi is on but sounds like it’s just too close to the microwave. No safety issues however.

Why did my download speed drop when I added a wifi range extender?

Question by The Ultimate Dude: Why did my download speed drop when I added a wifi range extender?
I have a netgear rangemax wifi router set up in my house. Well, I could only get 2 or 3 bars of signal strength with the rangemax alone on my PS3 and Laptop. So I purchased the Hawkings Wifi Extender for $ 44 of of Amazon. I went to speedtest.net and it said my download speed dropped almost half of what it was. I am paying for 25mb download and 5mb upload from Cox. Before added the extender I was getting 14 to 15mb download at speedtest.net. Now I get only 7 or 8mb. My upload speed is actually rating at close to 6, which is odd because it is only supposed to be 5mb.

Would I be better off just returning the repeater? Or is it better to have a stronger signal with slower download speed? Is there a way to fix it?

Best answer:

Answer by Chris
Better speed with lower signal is better than strong signal and slow speed.

Laptop WIFI booster or Mobile Internet Package?

Question by zabeonline: Laptop WIFI booster or Mobile Internet Package?
I am currently staying in rented accommodation for 6 months. The premises (room sharing within house) I stay in has internet access but the router is quite far away from my room (upstairs and also has thick walls) meaning that I either get no signal or get an extremely low signal. Now as I use the internet quite frequently for work and leisure am I better off getting a USB style booster that would enable ny laptop to geta good wireless signal from the router, or should I sign up with a mobile internet provider? Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated. Thanks.

Answer by Andy
You can’t really “boost” it like you’re saying. You could get an access point and put that midway between your part of the place and the router… Those mobile cards usually have caps on the bandwidth though, like 5gb a month.

Is it possible to daisy chain Wireless routers to make one large network?

Question by Sound Pro: Is it possible to daisy chain Wireless routers to make one large network?
Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible to daisy chain wireless routers so if you have one one one side of a large building, you can run an ethernet cable to the other side where there is no reception and daisy chain 2 wireless routers of the same kind (802.11 g).

Thanks and I appreciate it.

Best answer:

Answer by Colinc
No! 2 routers will conflict. You will need a wireless access point, this connects to the router by cable and provides additional wireless cover. You can add further access points if you still can’t cover the whole building.

Q&A: What is a good wifi booster for vista?

Question by missy: What is a good wifi booster for vista?
We have a 802.11g wireless LAN Pocket usb which we used with our computer when we had XP on it. We now have vista and can not go back to XP. We tried downloading drivers for the vista but nothing worked and we even called the companies that made the hardware and couldn’t get it to work so now we just want to buy something new.

Anyone have vista and using an amplifier for wireless networks please let me know what you have. There is so many free places right next door to us that it would be more worth it for us to just get it from there.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Get a good Netgear or Linksys PCI card and an external 7dbi antenna. Should run about $ 50 tops, and you’ll be able to pull signals from 300+ feet away easily.

Hope that helps.

Also, does this help the card, or does it act on its own as it’s own wireless type of card????

Q&A: Wireless Router Question?

Question by Ice: Wireless Router Question?
I have one of Netgear’s N300 routers, and I am just wondering if one of Netgear’s N600 routers would provid a longer range in the wireless signal. If not, I need to find a a way to enhance the wireless signal to provide a wider distance internet access. I currently own a Netgear WNR2000 router, which contains internal antennas, so I am at a loss on how to connect an external antenna to provide the range needed. Any help you can provide would be extremely helpful!

Fast wireless adapter that can use an external antenna?

Question by Spanky Monkey: Fast wireless adapter that can use an external antenna?
We have a dish set up on our roof, something like 18dbi gain, and on top of that it has a powered amplifier (“injector”) hooked inline with it, so it should have a huge range. For the longest time, it was hooked to an Avaya Wireless World Card Silver 11mb/s notebook card (adapted into a desktop pc) that used WEP to connect to our ISP’s tower several miles away. Well something isn’t working with that card, and i was wondering if i hooked a more generic card to it that could scan everything and pick up on stuff like the free public WIFI networks in town (just another mile or two past the tower) then it would fix our reliance on the ISP. So i’ve been looking, but while i don’t see any wireless-n cards out there yet that allow use of an external antenna (we can adapt connectors), i’d settle for a good wireless-g adapter, but it has to be something that i can hook this huge antenna up to.
I looked it up and i think the cable that runs from the Avaya card to the antenna amplifier is an MC Antenna Jack on the avaya end, and an N-Male connector where it hooks to the amplifier unit.

Right now we have to use dial-up because the avaya card was always flaky, but now does not work at all (seems like it was always software based) but with a different card, what would it take to set up the WEP again if we only could see our ISP’s tower?

I have used a USB wireless adapter inside a DirecTV dish to increase the range
the USB works quite nice as the whole unit can be put inside a waterproof container and mounted inside the dish
